The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Katsina State Secretariat has organised a sensitisation programme on job awareness and wealth creation for outgoing Batch C Stream II corps members. The event, held at Family Support School, carried the theme “Post-Service Employment Challenges and Panacea.”
Declaring the programme open, the State Coordinator, Mal. Ibrahim Sa’idu, who was ably represented by the Head of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mal. Isma’il, charged corps members to uphold the values of the Scheme even after their passing-out ceremony. He urged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the NYSC and preserve their uniforms for reference and future memories rather than disposing of them or giving them to unqualified persons.
Mal. Isma’il also encouraged the outgoing corps members to embrace the spirit of starting small, reminding them that successful entrepreneurs and millionaires rose to greatness through consistency and humble beginnings. He further congratulated the corps members for the successful completion of their service year in Katsina State.
In attendance were key NYSC officials, including the Head of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), Mal. Nurudeen Manir; the Zonal Inspector, Katsina State Chapter, Mal. Tukur; the Katsina Local Government Inspector, Mal. Murtala Ishaq; and several other NYSC staff.
The programme featured guest presentations aimed at preparing corps members for life after service. The Head of Jobberman, Katsina Chapter, Mr. Emmanuel, who served as the lead presenter, delivered a session on drafting professional CVs, job application techniques, and strategies for securing employment in reputable organisations.
Another guest speaker, Umar Zai’id from Elsafyan Consult, sensitised corps members on available loan opportunities and how to benefit from the ₦2 billion government intervention fund earmarked for corps members seeking to start their own businesses. He stressed the importance of leveraging such opportunities to become self-employed and economically independent.
The event came to a close with remarks from the Katsina LGI, Mal. Murtala Ishaq, who congratulated the corps members once again and advised them to maintain good conduct as they transition into the labour market, noting that character remains a major determinant of success in the real world.
The sensitisation programme is part of NYSC’s ongoing efforts to empower young graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive after their service year.
